She was innocent , she had dream , she dreamed in freedom ,Neda was young girl with heart fool of hope.Basij militia snipers hunted her saturday20-June 09 while the world was asleep.Iran, Tehran.
these pictures are terrifying because they are so typical of repression everywhere- at first I thought it was Palestine... and the smae mindset lead to mass slaughter by pilotless drones in Pakistan.
What can we do about it?
There is a protest on Sat in Sydney (organised by a section of the community) and one on Friday (an international day of solidarity) in Canberra organised by the Solidarity Committee with Iranian Workers. It is a protest against the arrests of workers from May Day, and it aims to highlight the lack of democratic rights in Iran and to call for the release of these unionists.
You can get details via Farida (do_the_bim@yahoo.com or Pip on piph@greenleft.org.au) from Sydney Stop the War coalition. I haven't got detai;s yet/.
One thing to be careful about- both Ahmedinejad and Mousavi hold similar positions on many issues. Mousavi is presented in the Western media as a “reformer”, however he was prime minister during the 1980s when the regime committed some of its worst atrocities.
